This event has been a huge boon to my family. I’m so glad it’s back.
— Friendly Exchanger

We'd like to extend a great, big THANK YOU to all the folks who participated in the Free Clothing Exchange's relaunch event on April 3rd. It was wonderful to see all the new faces as well as Friendly Exchangers from years past.

After a year's hiatus, we weren't sure what to expect as far as turn out, but we were very pleased to have nearly 25 households attend and a total of 40-45 individual Exchangers. For the next Free Clothing Exchange in July, we'd like to see 40 household attend and more than 60 folks trading their digs. Help us make this happen by inviting your friends, neighbors and family to come out and join us in July.

The date's not set yet, but it will likely be one of the first three Sundays in July. Look for the street signs, or sign up for our mailing list via the big, yellow box on our homepage to receive a heads up a few weeks beforehand.

The Exchange is a completely volunteer run event held in donated spaces. Without our amazing volunteers it wouldn't be possible for us to meet and swap clothes or just get some new ones every three months. There were over a dozen volunteers who helped make the "work" of putting on the Spring Exchange light and fun. Thank you FCE volunteers!

Finally, we'd like to express our gratitude to Mosaic North and De La Salle North for hosting the Free Clothing Exchange in the Gym at De La Salle. Where we hold the event every quarter has proven to be one of our greatest logistical challenges since we out grew the Kenton Library's community room last year.

We are genuinely stoked to be able to use the space at De La Salle. It's a Class 5 perfect location for us. Right off the MAX Yellow Line and bus lines at Lombard & Interstate, it's an easy spot for Friendly Exchangers to reach via transit.

It’s calm + very organized + lovely. Thank you!

Plus the big space gives us some elbow room, the ability to grow and just makes for a calm atmosphere. So a huge thank you goes out to our hosts. Because of your generosity, we were able to help meet the clothing needs of some 45 of our North Portland neighbors.

One reminder we have for all the kind folks who would like to donate clothes to the Free Clothing Exchange is that we can only accept donations during the time of the event itself. Please DO NOT drop off donations at the school at other times. For more on this and other FCE rules of engagement, please check out our How It Works page.

Looking ahead to THE SUMMER EXCHANGE…

We're already starting to plan for our next Exchange, which will happen either in late June or one of the Sundays in July. We don't have a date pinned down yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we do. You can also look for NEW signs, which will go up about a week before the next event.

We're taking all the great feedback you gave us and going to use it to make it the best Exchange yet. More racks. A fresher selection of clothes. Perhaps even some toys and books for children to browse and make their own. If you have ideas on how we can make the Free Clothing Exchange even better drop us a line and let us know.

See you in the summer!

your fellow Friendly Exchanger…Zack
