A Little History
Back in April, with your help and encouragement, we relaunched the Free Clothing Exchange. We weren't quite sure what to expect after a year of hiatus, but 24 households and more than 45 individual Friendly Exchangers came out to participate. It was great! You encouraged our ragtag group to keep it going and we fought to do just that.
But…as June approached, we found ourselves without a host space. For a brief time, we seriously considered making the FCE an al fresco affair by putting it on in a local park. That's when the amazing community at Kenton United Presbyterian Church generously offered their basement space to us for our quarterly event.
Their act of generosity not only gave us a new home, but helped the Clothing Exchange grow to serve over 30 households and even more individual participants than in the Spring.
The next FCE is coming up on Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4pm at Kenton Church (just four blocks west of Interstate & Lombard).
We are especially looking forward to the fall exchange, because God answered another big prayer request of ours in that the good folks at Kenton Church have agreed to let us store the clothing donations and exchange supplies onsite.
NO MORE SCHLEPPING ALL THE CLOTHES ACROSS TOWN AND BACK!
We expect this will dramatically transform the event for the better - allowing us to focus more on you, our Friendly Exchangers and the exchange experience, rather than the logistics of setting up and tearing down.
We still ask that you only donate clothes during the event itself on October 2nd from 2-4pm. If you are new to the Free Clothing Exchange, know that you don't have to bring clothes to receive clothes. Learn more about how it works.
Join the Exchange…October 2nd from 2-4pm
We're looking forward to the best Clothing Exchange on record, but that's not going to happen without you. Come out and join the fun and walk away with some new, Fall duds.
See you there!
